The Romanesque Road

The state of Saxony-Anhalt is rich in treasures of the Romanesque period: monasteries, cathedrals and village churches, houses and castles as well as statues and religious artifacts. They tell the story of Europe’s rebirth in an emerging common heritage of western thought. At the same time they tell the development of the countryside which today is united in Saxony-Anhalt. They are entwined in legends and fables. An important goal of The Romanesque Road is to focus on this period in Saxony-Anhalt.
